Recipes for Gallbladder Pain

I get many requests about food. “Everything makes me nauseous.” or “Every time I eat I feel gallbladder pain so I hardly eat.”

First of all, for both pain and nausea, use the phosphoric acid drops available separately or in the Gallbladder Starter Kit.

Secondly, it’s okay to “not eat” for short periods of time. Taking a break from eating, especially from what you’re eating is a good idea. Fasting on liquids from one to three days will not kill anybody. It can give the body a needed break. You do need to drink A LOT of water.

You can also drink vegetable juices, diluted. Use cucumbers, parsley, celery, carrot and beet and a little beet greens.

What you eat or drink can help your gallbladder pain problem. For example, to eat nothing but the Beet Recipe (and water) for three days can be very helpful. Beets help to thin the bile and relieve some of the congestion in the gallbladder and liver. You can eat nothing but Green Soup for three days (see below for the ingredients). This seems to be a favorite of my readers who are in pain.

Before we get into the main recipes for gallbladder pain, know that for the pain associated with gallstones, the castor oil pack can be a great relief. It reduces inflammation and relaxes simultaneously. Placed over the abdomen, it covers a main nerve plexus that controls whether you are relaxed or stressed. This makes a huge difference to gallbladder problems, but also to sludge or stones that may be trying to move down the bile duct. Relaxation is the key.

“That Green Soup really saved me.”

Most people stop eating until they are really hungry and then are indiscriminate when they put something in their mouths. They’ll eat whatever is in front of them. “If I’m going to feel pain anyway, I might as well eat something I like.” Wrong. Eat something that will nourish your body and preferably something that will help the problem such as beets or Green Soup.

It is for this reason, among others that we have published our 30 Day Gallbladder Menu. What we sometimes need is a day to day or even hour by hour plan of what to eat when so many things cause discomfort or pain. The following recipes are included in the menu plan. They are reprinted here for your convenience.

GREEN SOUP RECIPE – Adapted from Bieler’s Broth
  • One bunch parsley
  • 3 medium zucchini
  • ½ lb. Green beans
  • 5 stalks celery

Steam together for 8-10 minutes. Or partially steam and boil in ½ cup water. If you have a steamer, you retain more nutrients and flavor with that method. Puré in a blender.

This soup is wonderful for relief from all sorts of gastric disturbances such as stomach pain, gas, and indigestion. I do not add any fat or salt to this recipe. It can be used anytime but is particularly useful as a three day fast with nothing else but water. It is both nourishing and easy to digest. You can alter the amounts to taste. More beans add more sweetness.

BEET RECIPE
  • 1 Lg Organic Beet – raw, washed and grated
  • Lemon juice
  • Flax oil to taste (1/2 Tbsp to 1 Tbsp)

Take one teaspoon of mixture every hour throughout the day. For a three day fast on this recipe, you can eat ¼ to ½ cup of beets for your three meals. And take one teaspoon to one tablespoon each hour. Drink lots of water.

After the three days, break your fast by adding salad to your beets, rather than beets to your salad. In other words, use the same dressing but begin by adding other raw vegetables to it. Lettuce, parsley, cilantro, basil, tomatoes, carrots, etc. After a day or two, make this mixture to add to your salads frequently or eat alone as above 2 or 3 times a week. This will keep the bile thin and moving. Beets in any form are an excellent food for both the liver and the gallbladder
